Those who play darts wish they could hit the point. If they don't, they would simply exclaim "Sala!" The Greek "hamartia" for "sin" means "missing the mark or missing the point," hence, "kasalanan" whose root word is "sala." In today's gospel, the people missed the point. They decorated the temple lavishly not knowing that it would later collapse. Let's focus on the more important thing, on the essentials. Surely we will never miss the mark. |
