Why choose less when you can have more? Why did Lazarus wait only for the scraps when Dives could have offered a whole bread? The parable touches our core when we realize that many poor people are like Lazarus. They are entitled only to the fragments that fall from the table of the affluent. If I am to offer something to a needy, sharing a leftover won't make me happy. Giving something fresh and new will certainly bring joy. |
