The choice is God's. Nothing is ever going to change that. If you ask me why some seminarians, albeit good, do not make it to the priesthood (and conversely, why do deficient ones get ordained?), I will still say the same thing. God is the one choosing. That is very clear in today's gospel. "It was not you who chose me. It was I who chose you to go forth and bear fruit." Why ask "why?" Leave that to God. It's his business, not ours. |
