The very first angelic greetings to Mary was "Rejoice" or "Chaire" in Greek. Mary's response, her Fiat, was equally joyous. That is Christian joy which is the message of today's gospel. The presence of the groom, Jesus himself, evokes joy. We are called to rejoice at all times, even during trying moments like this pandemic. We have enough reasons to be happy. We live. Yes, life is the greatest gift for which we should be grateful and joyful. |
