5 September: In case of necessity, there is no law. It means that human need is more important than regulations. We do not undermine the law but we prioritize the needs of man. Jesus, in today's gospel, defended his disciples for eating on a Sabbath. He stressed that ceremonial regulations are superseded by basic human needs. Law should not enslave us. We keep the spirit of the law which is love. |
