Do we have a "holier than thou" attitude? It means we think of our righteousness and condemn the weakness of others. That is precisely the attitude of the Pharisee, in today's gospel, who belittled the sinful woman and, in effect, Jesus who allowed the woman to touch him. Someone advised his friend, "Avoid the company of that person. He is a bad influence." That is practically saying, "I am holier..." |
