Hearing is an important motif in the Lucan opus. The parable of the sower is centered on hearing. Mary is given as a model of correct hearing. Following this parable is the account of Mary's search for Jesus. Luke intended to present Mary as a representation of the seed that fell on good soil. She heard the Word and acted upon it. May we imitate the Blessed Mother in correctly hearing and doing the Word in order to bear spiritual fruits. |
