Of all possible readings, this one comes on the day of the funeral for my brother, "Let the dead bury their dead." Of course Jesus' words mean "Let the spiritually dead bury the physically dead." I am glad that my spirituality has not been affected by my desire to provide my brother a decent funeral. This is the reason. I said Yes to the Lord however painful it might be. I thanked him for the gift of life. He has given. He has taken away. Blessed be His name. |
