A wish not granted -- "They will respect my Son." The father's unfulfilled wish in the parable foretold what would happen to Jesus. He was not respected. He was killed. This happens over and over again. Each time we commit sin we disrespect the Son. When we tarnish our body which is his temple, we dishonor Jesus. When we slander a fellow, we insult the Lord who said, "Whatever you do to one of these, you do it to me." Would that Jesus earn respect in us, with us, through us.
