St. Teresa of Avila was a learned woman, a Doctor of the Church. However, her greatness was not in terms of human knowledge but Divine wisdom. In today's gospel, Jesus kind of despised the lawyers. Their knowledge did not impress the Lord because they "stopped those trying to enter the door of knowledge." We cannot brag about our worldly knowledge. What Jesus wants is the holy wisdom. |
