St. Vincent de Paul clearly expressed the intimate connection between prayer and charity, enabling us to understand that love of God finds expression in loving our neighbor. He wrote, "When you leave prayer to serve some poor persons, this service is performed for God." Today's gospel on double commandment invites us to love God in our brothers and sisters. If during prayer a needy comes, we can postpone our prayer to attend to his need. |
