Normally we turn down an invitation coming from an adversary. Our immediate reaction is to decline. Jesus did the opposite. Today's gospel presents Jesus dining with a leading Pharisee. The latter had a malicious intent of finding reasons to accuse Jesus of breaching the Sabbath law. Jesus very well knew that but just the same, he said Yes to the invitation. Let's make a bridge rather than a wall. |
