A retreat facilitator asked a community of nuns, "Are you foolish or wise virgins?" The mother superior spoke, "We can't say whether we are wise or foolish. One thing sure: We are all virgins." To which type of virgins [of today's gospel] do we identify ourselves? If we lack foresight, we are foolish. If we anticipate events, we are wise. Foolish are we if we see only the here and now. Wise we are if we see the hereafter.
