E. Peron's words always strike a chord, "Don't cry for me, Argentina. The truth is I never left you." In today's gospel, Jesus cried for Jerusalem whom he never left and abandoned but still failed to respond to his love. We can't tell Jesus, "Don't cry for me" because the truth is we always leave him. He continuously weeps for us, sinners. More than Peron grieving over Argentina, Jesus grieves over our insensitivity and infidelity. We make him cry over and over again. How sad! |
