Call it a privilege. Call it a right. Call it an obligation. I call it an invitation to serve. To my mind that is the essence of "authority" which is "exousia" in Greek. All authority comes from God. He alone has control over all creation. This authority, when shared to man, should in no way be abused. It should neither enslave nor imprison anyone. Authority is exercised in the name of love. It is expressed in a loving service to all. |
