The martyrs were innocent. The innocent were martyrred. In whatever point of view, there are elements of innocence and martyrdom. The two concepts can be contradictory. Innocence is absence of knowledge while martyrdom usually requires full knowledge and consent. May we be endowed with enough understanding to be able to know and accept any suffering for the Lord and his gospel. |
