The New Year's display of fireworks somehow brought "light" to the world "darkened" by covid-19. Today's gospel speaks of the light seen by the Galileans who sat in the darkness of racial impurity. It was the birth of Jesus that ushered in that light. We may be sitting in the darkness of despair but the recent liturgical celebrations sparkled lights of hope in our hearts. The Star of hope shines brightly. No amount of darkness can make that light fade or wane. |
