In the Greek language, there is a distinction between "neos" which is newness in respect to time and "kainos" which is newness in respect to quality. Not everything new is desirable. Qualitative (not temporal) newness is that which we desire. The newness of the teaching of Jesus is of this type.It is new because it is authoritative and liberational. By his own powers he could rebuke and command the unclean spirits. Truly new! |
