Those who pray the Breviary know very well Ps. 95 that says, "They are a people whose hearts go astray." The same description is given by today's gospel. Jesus grieved at the people's "hardened hearts." Basically, the metaphor refers to the people's utter rejection of love and salvation offered by God. Don't be surprised if Jesus gets angry because our human hearts have gone astray. |
