To have one means to lose the other. Simon and Andrew, James and John decided to follow Jesus, so, they had to leave their boats. There was a breaking off. As fishermen, their nets and their boats were their very life but they had to abandon them in order to have Jesus. Many times, we are to make a definitive choice that requires a breaking off. If we hold on to the Lord, we have to let go of worldly pleasures. |
