A sign and a sigh! These two words differ only in the last letter. They may not be connected per se but today's gospel brings their connection with each other. That people were looking for SIGNS made Jesus SIGH from the depth of his spirit. The latter is an expression of the Lord's sadness and regrets about the people's lack of faith. If, with disbelief and doubt, we demand God to show us some signs, he will also sigh with sadness in his heart. |
