Only human beings are endowed with the ability to remember. Animals act based solely on instinct. A number of times, the Old Testament writings invite the Israelites to "remember" and "not forget." In today's gospel, Jesus asked his followers, "... do you not remember?" Yes, they have forgotten the multiplication of loaves. They forgot the wondrous deeds of the Lord. God is good all the time. This we should always remember... lest we forget. |
