There is a world of difference between "occasionally" and "daily." Not present in the Marcan gospel, the word "daily" was added by Luke to signify that Christian life is a daily dying to self. Taking up our cross daily means we die everyday. During this Season of Lent, let self-dying be our daily task. We fast, abstain and do penance. We die so that others may live. -- Msgr. Andro |
