While we call this day "Palm Sunday," we do not undermine the fact that it is "Passion Sunday." This signals the impending death of Jesus which he freely embraced. He was abandoned by his followers, suffered human loneliness and felt "forsaken" by his Father. Yet his Divinity shone through. St. Bernard of Clairvaux said "God cannot suffer but He can suffer with man." This is the reason why Jesus went through his passion. He suffered for us. He chose to die to give us life. |
