13 April: We have been lifted up. Why do we allow ourselves to be pulled down again? The Johannine Theology of lifting up on the cross (which recalls the lifting up of the serpent in the desert) reminds us that along with Jesus glorified on the cross, we are also lifted up in faith and in hope. We are not to fall down again in discouragement and in despair. We go up. We don't come down. |
