The subject and the linking verb "I am" appear incomplete and meaningless because of the absence of predicate. That is true grammatically but not theologically. When, in today's gospel, Jesus speaks of the Divine Identity "I am," he makes a reference to the Old Testament identity of God who cares for His people come what may. This is our God who is loving yesterday, today and forever. |
