As the Master was, the disciples will be. This is the meaning of Jesus' words in today's gospel "No servant is greater than his master." It refers not to the superiority of the Master but to the equality in [or sharing of] fate or destiny. Concretely, it says that the sufferings of Jesus will be his followers' own. If we profess that we are Christians, we must be ready to embrace the Lord's cross. We die with him. |
