There is a Latin saying that can be roughly translated: "Against a fact, there is no valid argument." That is why a witness who gives facts and says, "I have seen and heard it myself" cannot be rebutted. Today's gospel invites us to testify to God and it presumes we have known and "seen" him. Against our concrete religious experience, no unbeliever can argue with us. |
