One is leaving. The other is coming. That's the assurance made by today's gospel. The departure of Jesus will usher in the arrival of the Avocate, the Spirit of Truth. It teaches us life's lessons: Having one means losing the other. There is holding on if there is letting go. Sorrow turns into joy. Absence enhances presence. Sad separation leads to a happy reunion. |
