Today we honor Mary as Mother of the Church. When today's gospel says she was entrusted to the Beloved Disciple, it means she was given to all believers and became their Mother. She is rightly called "Mater Ecclesiae." She actively joined her Son's suffering and death. She would also join us in our human struggles. Yes, she is a "Stabat Mater," standing by our side. |
