Ostentation is opposed to holiness. We do not make a display of good deeds. In today's gospel, Jesus forbade the cured man to make the healing known in public. He does not want to get credit for that act of healing. Which reminds us to keep secret the good things that we do. We are not to blow trumpets. Only God knows our good works. We do not need human affirmation. |
