Compassion is a fruit of prayer. In today's gospel, after inviting his disciples to take a prayerful rest, Jesus saw the vast crowd and his heart was moved with pity. When we pray, we see God in the image of the poor and the needy and we become compassionate. The best proof that we have genuinely prayed is when we have a transformed heart -- no longer selfish but beating in compassionate charity. |
