We cannot shun the disturbing voice of our conscience. Herod experienced that. What he did to John the Baptist penetrates deeply into his heart. The death of the precursor bothered him so greatly. This is the price of the sins we commit. They may have been a thing of the past but their memory will continuously haunt us. A reminder for us not to do evil again. |
