We don't have to look for a reward. In today's gospel, Peter got the nerve to tell Jesus, "We have given up everything and followed you. What will be there for us?" All the good things that we do are supposed to be done without expecting something in return. They don't merit any reward. We do good because God is good to us. We try to be good because that is what the Lord expects of us. |
