It is easy to love God completely, ie, with all our heart, our soul, our mind. What is difficult is to love our neighbor as ourselves. God is good and lovable at all times but our neighbors are beset with weaknesses and, many times, are unlovable. Nonethless, the challenge of Christian discipleship is to live the double commandment. Our love of God is lacking if we refuse to love our neighbors. |
