The word "guile" is synonymous with "duplicity" or "dishonesty." In today's gospel, Nathanael is contrasted with Jacob's guileful character. Jesus himself said, "There is no duplicity in him." In a world where more people tend to be cunning and dishonest, where duplicity becomes so common, Nathanael a.k.a Bartholomew stands as a shining example of honesty and sincerity, truly worthy of emulation. |
