The lighting of candles during baptismal rites is very meaningful. The baptized receives the light of Christ in order to give light to others. That is the Lord's invitation in today's gospel: Let your light shine. Be a lamp placed on a lampstand so that others may see the light. The light of faith ignited on baptism should be kept aflame, at all times burning. |
