Action and contemplation. Both are important. They are interwoven. Martha worked. Mary prayed. We do not play out Martha against Mary. We combine both attitudes. Ora et labora. We need to work. We have to pray. The bible scholar Joseph Fitzmyer put them together in what he calls "a contemplative in action." |
