The Lord's Prayer (the Our Father) is all-embracing. It covers the past (Forgive us our trespasses), the present (Give us today our daily bread) and the future (Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil). When we pray it, we entrust our past to God's mercy, our present to his Providence and our future to his protective care. |
