If we think of Jesus merely as a gentle Lord, today's gospel will change such thinking. By denouncing the scribes [the scholars of the Law] and the Pharisees [who feel superior for the observance of the law and separated from the common people], Jesus revealed his other side. He is an outspoken Lord who calls a spade a spade. Amidst corruption and other forms of evil, we must be courageous to speak out. |
