During the pandemic, sudden death has become an ordinary occurence. It is possible at any moment. While the warning of Jesus in today's gospel is primarily referring to the Parousia, it secondarily refers to his coming at the moment of our death. Let us look forward to that encounter with excitement and joy. To face Jesus at death is to snuffle out the lamp because the day is breaking. |
