When St. Paul wrote that "money is the root of all evils," he did not refer to money per se but to an inordinate desire for wealth. When Jesus said "You cannot serve God and mammon [money], he did not exclude the possibility of using money to serve God. There are many rich and generous people who share their material blessings for charitable works. They make use of money to serve God in the poor who are so dear to God. |
