The motif of shepherding introduces today's gospel and connects it with Ps. 23. Jesus saw the crowd as "sheep without shepherd" and ordered them to "sit down on the green grass."This alludes to the Shepherd who leads the flock to verdant pastures. During the multiplication of loaves, Jesus showed himself as a compassionate shepherd. He is and always will be. |
