Attachment to legalism can be enslaving. The Pharisees insisted on the letter of the law forgetting its spirit. It must be clear that law is promulgated for the common good. It is not slavish. While we respect and obey the law, let us always remember that love is the spirit of the law. The good of everyone -- that's first and foremost. |
