Why do we pray? Do we desire to meet Jesus or are we simply in need of his help? In today's gospel, a large number of people followed Jesus. He was surrounded from all sides by a crowd that crushed him. They wanted to be healed. A true prayer teaches us to seek the Lord for his own sake, to experience an intimate encounter with his person. In praying we seek not so much the gift but the giver himself. |
