Affluence does not guarantee happiness. In today's gospel, the man was rich but he went away sad. Why? He could not take the challenge of Jesus to radically renounce his possessions. Such attachment is the root of his sadness. If he were detached, he could have left joyfully. One thing was lacking in him. He forgot that Jesus alone suffices, that the Lord is his security. |
