The story is told about Martin of Tours. In the bitterly cold winter of 334, he saw a beggar shivering in the cold. He cut his military cloak into two, kept one half for himself and covered the beggar with the other half. That night, Jesus appeared to him in a dream wearing on his shoulders that piece of cloak. Well said in today's gospel, "What you did for others, you did for me." |
