Rich in material possessions but poor in charity. That's a fitting way to describe Dives of today's gospel. He was obviously affluent but very poor in loving concern for the needy. He never noticed Lazarus. We may not be wealthy in terms of worldly comforts but we can enrich ourselves through our acts of love. We are all equal in our capacity to love however unequal we may be in earthly possessions. |
