"Joseph found happiness not in mere self-sacrifice but in self-gift." These words lifted from "Patris Corde" of Pope Francis encapsulate today's gospel. Finding Mary pregnant was a self-sacrifice. Taking Mary as wife was a self-gift. Our devotion to St. Joseph impels us to look at our sufferings not only as a form of sacrificial offering but an expression of self-donation. |
