Only an empty space can be filled in. Both the first Johannine sign (wedding at Cana) and the second (cure of the royal official's son) focused on emptiness. In both events, there was a need to accept that something was lacking. They lacked wine. The boy lacked proper cure. Jesus filled in the lacunae. He turned the water into wine. He healed the sick boy. Let's call on the Lord. Emptiness turns into an abundance. |
